About me

Angela Ponce, M.Psy, TX-LPC

Passionate about mental health, families, and curious about how people and systems thrive and succeed, I am inspired by every case I see. While elements of different cases vary, I enjoy puzzling through each client's cases to work out who they are, where they are and a route to where they want to go.

Focusing first on a place for understanding, I explore my client's worldview, needs and goals, figuring out what is you, and what parts are other's ideas and needs of you. As we work, I provide connections regarding what patterns I see, note what others may do in your situation, and explore why you might have chosen the current path. With insights as to how you have come to where you are, we can explore together why you may potentially continue to choose to stay the path or to change and forge your own new path.

I believe there is a reason you have come here, and that there is wisdom in the pains and wounds you have endured. However, it can be difficult to risk new dangers on a new course. With someone to hear the multifaceted parts of you and your values, and help explore your needs from this life, the trip through the looking glass, can reveal so much more about you than you ever knew was possible.

My Approach

Here’s what you can expect when we work together—and what I don’t do. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and supported as your unique self. I use an evidence-based psychodynamic approach, incorporating elements from other modalities to meet the needs of each individual.

In our work, I provide a presence that is warm, empathetic, direct, collaborative, and curious. I encourage open communication about the therapeutic relationship itself, as well as your thoughts and feelings about our progress, so that sessions are always aligned with your goals.

I focus on helping clients understand themselves, their patterns, and how their brains work, particularly for those navigating late-diagnosed autism, ADHD, or other neurodivergent experiences. My work is not about pushing you to “try harder,” but about exploring your experiences and building strategies that truly fit you.

What I do

  • Help late-diagnosed or questioning autistic and ADHD adults understand themselves and their patterns

  • Support clients in reducing burnout and building sustainable ways of living that work with (not against) their neurodivergence

  • Explore masking, self-criticism, and internalized pressures to perform

  • Facilitate self-understanding, insight, and emotional processing

  • Support relationship and communication challenges, especially in neurodiverse couples

  • Provide guidance for navigating work, life transitions, and social expectations in neurodivergent contexts

  • Work collaboratively—clients’ goals, experiences, and self-knowledge guide therapy

  • Validate experiences rather than pathologize difference

  • Offer individual therapy, couples therapy, and parent/child support (including play therapy for verbal children age 3+)

What I don't do

  • Give generic “try harder” advice or push clients to conform to neurotypical norms

  • Offer quick-fix solutions or one-size-fits-all strategies

  • Judge differences in communication, thinking, or life approach

  • Provide therapy without tailoring to your unique cognitive and emotional profile

  • Make assumptions about abilities, diagnoses, or neurodivergent identity

  • Force families or partners to see things “my way” — therapy is collaborative

  • Work with clients who are looking only for prescriptive advice without exploration
